The TJX Companies is the leading global off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions. Its brands include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Homesense and more.
Problem
TJX wanted to position itself as an ethical enterprise dedicated to sustainable practices. As part of their awareness campaign, they have commissioned a new Corporate Responsibilities Report that would outline the company’s effort to operate ethically and to make positive, sustainable impact on the world. My responsibilities included layouts, typography and the design of the report.
Approach
I began by studying the corporate branding guidelines of this well-established retailer. I also communicated with the parties involved to determine key business objectives and expectations towards this report.
Solution
The report I ended up putting together was streamlined and crisp, but at the same time had incorporated elements of visual design that helped draw the eye towards key parts of its content. All the styling was in line with TJX’s corporate branding and radiated a corporate feel without feeling bland. I came up with three concepts for the cover, table of contents and other pages of the report to be featured on TJX’s home page and Corporate Responsibilities page.
